Something Different

I came across this video that caught my attention. It is a live steam engine narrow gauge model I think, but take a close look at the track. I have never seen any G Scale track that was made this way. It probably is custom made. My guess is that this may have been done on real railroads. Does anyone know any examples of this? Possibly when converting from narrow to standard gauge?

 The Model Train Village has been part of the Northern Lights celebration at L.L. Bean for several years. The full program can be seen at the  Northern Lights Web Page .  Trains run 9am-9pm from November 15 through January 1. It is located in the Camping Department and can be seen from both inside and outside the store. Model Train Village and window to downtown Freeport It has three trains that run on timers along with lights, skating rinks, a model of the L.L. Bean Store in the 1930s-1940s, and a model of the Freeport Train Station which is now at Boothbay Railway Village. The Maine3Railers O-Gauge Model Railroad Club built and operates this layout.
