Very Impressive



I don't understand half of what I just watched, not even close to that, But, I LOVE IT.  I love the father teaching his son.  I love the way a young boy learns as an apprentice from an experienced  craftsman.  Imagine the education value gained in 2 weeks!  Wow, congratulations to the Schade family.

 From Eric: " Ben spent two weeks working with me in the workshop building a working model steam locomotive.  We worked together to design it and to manufacture the parts needed.  We started with a nicely pre-machined kit of a steam engine for which we fabricated a boiler, frame, drive wheels and a chassis.  The locomotive burns alcohol and will pull several cars on our indoor test track with ease."

L.L. Bean Model Train Village Christmas 2022

 The Model Train Village has been part of the Northern Lights celebration at L.L. Bean for several years. The full program can be seen at the  Northern Lights Web Page .  Trains run 9am-9pm from November 15 through January 1. It is located in the Camping Department and can be seen from both inside and outside the store. Model Train Village and window to downtown Freeport It has three trains that run on timers along with lights, skating rinks, a model of the L.L. Bean Store in the 1930s-1940s, and a model of the Freeport Train Station which is now at Boothbay Railway Village. The Maine3Railers O-Gauge Model Railroad Club built and operates this layout.
