No Train Horns allowed



Orange County California has used silent crossings for a couple of years.  Here is a picture of an Amtrak which  looks like it is moving pretty fast going through a crossing without blowing it's horn.  I tend to believe in the use of horns and do not think people who move into a crossing area have much of a case when they complain later on.  But, in Orange County many are happy with the quiet zones.  Here is an article which explains how they work.  Please click here:   (Sorry, looks like the link is being worked on).  The Model Train Village has been part of the Northern Lights celebration at L.L. Bean for several years. The full program can be seen at the  Northern Lights Web Page .  Trains run 9am-9pm from November 15 through January 1. It is located in the Camping Department and can be seen from both inside and outside the store. Model Train Village and window to downtown Freeport It has three trains that run on timers along with lights, skating rinks, a model of the L.L. Bean Store in the 1930s-1940s, and a model of the Freeport Train Station which is now at Boothbay Railway Village. The Maine3Railers O-Gauge Model Railroad Club built and operates this layout.
