With regret we announce John Sholtis has died.

John Sholtis the owner and operator of Rainy Day Trains in Saco Maine died suddenly on May 30, 2014.  John had been a member of MGRS and is well know by many members and train enthusiasts in Maine.   We would like to offer our condolences to the family.  Portland Press Herald:  updated 6/2/14.

 The Model Train Village has been part of the Northern Lights celebration at L.L. Bean for several years. The full program can be seen at the  Northern Lights Web Page .  Trains run 9am-9pm from November 15 through January 1. It is located in the Camping Department and can be seen from both inside and outside the store. Model Train Village and window to downtown Freeport It has three trains that run on timers along with lights, skating rinks, a model of the L.L. Bean Store in the 1930s-1940s, and a model of the Freeport Train Station which is now at Boothbay Railway Village. The Maine3Railers O-Gauge Model Railroad Club built and operates this layout.
