Model Train Village at L.L. Bean in Freeport



The Model Train Village is part of the L.L. Bean Northern Lights Celebration in Freeport.



Boothbay Railway Village provided the layout, which is in the Children's Department on the 2nd floor. The pictures below show the beautiful snow-covered scene which includes both G-Scale trains and an O-Scale train. It runs from 9am to 9am through December 31st. Buildings, scenery, and decorations are very nicely done.

The other parts of the Northern Lights Celebration are outdoors in Discovery Park. They are the Night Sky Dome, Discovery Forest, and Santa's Workshop and Reindeer Barn.

 The Model Train Village has been part of the Northern Lights celebration at L.L. Bean for several years. The full program can be seen at the  Northern Lights Web Page .  Trains run 9am-9pm from November 15 through January 1. It is located in the Camping Department and can be seen from both inside and outside the store. Model Train Village and window to downtown Freeport It has three trains that run on timers along with lights, skating rinks, a model of the L.L. Bean Store in the 1930s-1940s, and a model of the Freeport Train Station which is now at Boothbay Railway Village. The Maine3Railers O-Gauge Model Railroad Club built and operates this layout.
